Playing good golf has many different areas for a player to be proficient.
When it comes to making the golf team, it is not just standing on the driving range beating ball after ball with the driver.
The goal of this golf program for kids (Ages 12-18 aka junior high or high school players) is to expose the player to the fundamentals of all aspects of golf. Whether your child is trying to make the high school golf team or their junior high golf team, this will be a great program of skill drills that will make them a better player. Each week will have a topic of concentration…
Week 1 – Short Putts1. Comfortable grip, stance, posture to properly stroke a putt2. Learn what proper contact between your putter and the golf ball is3. Learn what determines the initial direction of a putt and how to control it4. Receive practice drills/games to keep improving
Week 2 – Distance Putts1. What three things that are needed to make a putt2. What is a 2:1 ratio and why it is import to distance putting3. How to properly set your expectations for a longer putt4. How various speeds affect putts and how to hit a ball at different speeds5. Receive practice drills/games to keep improving
Week 3 – Chip Shots1. Lean the difference between a chip shot and a pitch shot2. Which club(s) should you use when chipping? Should you only use one?3. Learn how to properly pick out a spot to land the ball4. Proper stance, grip and posture and how to make a proper chipping motion5. Receive practice drills/games to keep improving
Week 4 – Pitch Shots – Partial Wedges1. What is the proper grip, stance, posture and ball position for a pitch shot or a partial wedge shot2. What is proper contact and why it is so important for consistency3. Learn how to control initial trajectory of your wedge shots4. What is the proper launch angle for a partial wedge shot5. Receive practice drills/games to keep improving
Week 5 – Bunker Shots1. The proper strategy for executing a bunker shot2. What bounce on your golf club is and how to use it to your advantage3. What the most important part of hitting a bunker shot is4. How your setup is different for a green side sand shot5. Receive practice drills/games to keep improving
Week 6 – Full Swing Irons1. What is the proper grip, stance, posture and ball position for a full swing iron shot2. How your grip affects the ball/club interaction3. How your setup affects the ball/club interaction4. What is low point and why it is important to control5. Receive practice drills/games to keep improving
Week 7 – Full Swing Woods1. What is the proper grip, stance, posture and ball position for a full swing wood shot2. What is proper contact and why it is so important for consistency and distance3. Why low point is different when hitting a wood opposed to an iron4. Receive practice drills/games to keep improving
Week 8 – Skills Challenge
Practice balls will be provided at no additional cost.
